Planned Cesarean Birth Support
Birth is and can be beautiful under any circumstances. Many women visualize themselves laboring naturally at home, and having a beautiful water birth-- perhaps at a birth center or hospital. And then they envision this blissful look on their faces as they hold their babies up on their chest for the first time.
Sometimes women are able to achieve this type of birth. And sometimes, things do not go as they expect. The baby may be in a position that makes labor more challenging to navigate, longer, waves stronger than anticipated. Some places of birth place restrictions, create time limits. Babies get tired and their little hearts may not tolerate laboring for days. The uterus might get tired too.
Sometimes, surgical birth is necessary. We don't plan for it, it's not usually the first choice, but there are times when a cesarean is needed.
Education: One (3-hour) prenatal meeting to discuss your previous birth, plan for your cesarean birth and prepare for postpartum.
On-Call Support: We know from experience that babies come when they want, even with a planned cesarean. We are on call for you upon hire and ready to support you in the event of an unexpected labor process.
Birth Day: We will meet you at the hospital prior to pre-op to help you get settled and assist with any remaining questions or concerns. We will support you during the surgical birth (emotional, advocacy, informational, physical), this can include taking pictures using your camera/phone. Following the birth, we will support you with transitioning into postpartum and assist with breastfeeding.
Immediate Postpartum Support: We know will contact you via email, text, and phone to make sure you and your family is adjusting and recovering and offer appropriate resources and additional support.
Postpartum Visit: One in-home postpartum visit within 1-2 weeks after your birth to process the experience, answer questions and provide appropriate resources and additional support.
